  1. I would consider not taking the medication right now.  The chances  of you having an outbreak right away would be slim.

I of course would talk to my doctor first though.  Have you tried acylovir instead  or maybe a half a dose???

Also just becasue you have herpes does not mean you have to have a c-section.  As long as you do not have an outbreak at the time or you haven't had one recently you should be fine.  Your nurse will go over this more to get a better idea of your delivery.

  2. I have never epxerienced that side affect from valtrex - I don't get any side effects from it.

It has been shown to be fine to take while pregnant so you and the baby will be fine.

As it happens, unless you have a tendency to regular outbreaks the valtrex is probably not that important. Women who have had herpes a long time produce antibodies which also protect the baby. The greatest risk is if the mother catches herpes during pregnancy. They are just erring on the side of caution.

Ignore those people who are saying all people with herpes have ot have a c-section! That is only carried out if someone has a current outbreak. My sister has three children, all born by vaginal delivery, without taking valtrex, and they are all healthy.

  3. As long as you dont have an outbreak during delvery you should be fine.....stats indicate that 25 % of pregnant women have herpes and deliver vaginally.

  4. I cant believe they are letting you deliver naturally. Do you know what herpes can do to your baby as its coming out of the birth canal. You should request a c- section.

  5. I have never ever heard of someone known to have herpes deliver vaginally, that is crazy are you seeing a real OB or a regular doctor?  You need to get an OB that is smarter because with this kind of advise I really question the doctor!
