I am an American who wishes to move to Jordan and marry a Jordanian man, what do I do for this to happen?

I want to go to Jordan to marry him , do I have to have a fiancees visa to marry him in Jordan . After we intend to reside in Jordan. Can anyone give me some legal answers and help ..............PLEASE

Very dangerous idea. Are you Muslim? If not - and he is, you will be obligated BY LAW to raise any children you have as Muslim and he can divorce you and you will never see your children again. You might want to check into other legal ramifications that you will be subject to - not just visas.

This has happened to many many women - they marry men from the middle east and they end up with NOTHING. Think about it and ask an attorney who specializes in International Law who is not Muslim.

First of all so many people are so ignorant about other cultures it is sickening.

I live in Jordan and I am a American born woman born to Americans 4 times over. Do not listen to these sterotypes. You can go to Jordan on a plane get off the plane and get a visitors visa. Go get a translator and go to the court with your fiance and get married. If you have been divorced before you need these papers certified by the US Embassy and then stamped by the main court in Amman.

You do not need to wear a hijab or any other type of "Islamic"clothing, but with consideration to the culture you should dress decent like you would attending a job or and interview.

As far as how women are treated. lol it is funny people think that men are controlling the women. Maybe this is in a very few families but from what I have seen women are the ones who control the house and the man.

Oh my, I wouldn't marry him or go to Jordan- it is not safe and they treat their women very badly over there.

First go to a Muslim clothing store and buy  the required clothing and scarves. Sign up for Muslim classes.

Be prepared to let go of the western notion of equality for women, because you can be arrested and flogged just for sitting at a table in a restaurant with a man not your husband. (a boss or coworker for example)
