  1. perhaps u can start talking with some of ur friends who may be learning English too, or else speak with those whom u know can accept the mistakes that u might make and help u to correct them.....

best of luck and have fun!!!!!!!!

  2. ok their will always be times where u feel like ur really scared off speaking a language that u have difficulty in like when it comes to french like im going to live in quebec and ive been speaking french my whole life but since im english i have a huge accent in french so this is to let u kno that u're not the only one whom is bad in a language too so dont be worried about anything.

  3. Are you embarassed of how well you do or don't speak English? You're learning, of course you're going to have some difficulty. But teachers and classmates are there to guide and support you as you learn. You won't continue to learn unless you try. It's ok to feel a little self-conscious, but if you don't put yourself out there and try your best you won't be able to improve.

  4. Your problem is not with the English language, which you speak very well. You are shy and you are a perfectionist, both of which are keeping you from getting the speaking practice you need. No one starts out perfect, and if you read some of the answers here you will see that even native speakers can make mistakes in English. Just remember that a little nervousness is normal, but too much will hold you back. No one will reproach you for your attempts, and you should not reproach yourself. On the contrary, everyone will be very happy that you are making an effort to learn their language and will be very supportive.

Have courage and never permit yourself to feel self-contemptuous. A famous quote from Oscar Wilde says: "There is a luxury in self-reproach. When we blame ourselves, we feel that no one else has a right to blame us." It would be better not to give yourself that luxury.

  5. It's okay to be nervous about speaking a new language in front of other people, but the only way to get better is to actually speak the language. Realize that no one wants to look dumb, but  when you have the courage to speak, then others will look up to you. From the sounds of it, you are great at English. Keep working hard and "Don't let the fear of striking out, keep you from playing the game."

  6. That a big phrase for someone who can't speak English.

    Maybe join an English class?

  7. I know what you mean. I used to be nervous about speaking Spanish around other people although I was quite fluent. I  know one reason why I was nervous was because I am a perfectionist and I don't want to be wrong or make a mistake and have other people think less of me.

I often found that I was not so nervous when it was just me and one other person in ther room speaking Spanish (or in your case English).

My advice would be to let people know that you're just learning the language and that you're trying your hardest. Dont' be too hard on yourself.

  8. This is normal because you are self-conscious about making mistakes.   I'm learning Spanish and was very self-conscious at first.

Try speaking English to people outside of your classroom and let them know you are a beginner English.  Most people are happy to help someone attempting their language.

Another suggestion is to go to your teacher to let him or her know your fear.  The teacher should give you pointers on how to pronounce things better and probably will reassure you that you are doing okay.

Also, talk to your classmates.  I'm sure they have the same fears as you have.

I was told that Rosetta Stone software has a voice recognition program to help you with pronunciation.

    Good Luck.

  9. Don't worry about it so much, I usually get terrified when I try to speak german to someone, but I just say a few words and I think, "They're probably just as nervous to speak english to me..." you know what I mean?
