  1. Yes you require a visa. The privilege of free transit within the EC is one that belongs to EC citizens ONLY.

You must apply for a short term visa. This will require you provide the following:

Application form for a short-stay visa.

    Recent passport-sized photograph

Valid travel document (valid for at least three months longer than the visa applied for)

Ticket for the entire outward and return journey (at the time of the application's presentation, only documentary evidence of the reservation is required)

Documentary evidence of socio-professional situation: professional card, pay slip, certificate of school or university attendance, student card, pension book, evidence of retirement pension or pension de reversion (survivor's pension), etc.

Documentary evidence of accommodation in France: attestation d'accueil (official proof of residence or projected residence), hotel reservation, title deeds or rental agreement, or any documentary evidence of ownership or rental of accommodation

Documentary evidence of means of support for the duration of the stay: currency, international bank card, traveller's cheques

Assistance agreement covering medical and repatriation expenses, where appropriate

The French Government visa service is at  6A, Cromwell place, London SW7 2EW. Their Phone number is [44] (20) 70-73-12-00

  2. OK you seem to be missing the point of the EC....If you are admitted into the EC ie UK you have entered the european union and can travel freely throughout it..I think people are mixing it up with asylum seekers, Who are not free to travel throughout  the EC but are supposed to stay where they are granted asylum until they are granted Refugee status...So my good friend Bonne Voyage and enjoy your trip...
