  1. just make them give you their password and log in once in awhile to see who they are conversing with and delete any friends that are not there age....  Do not tell them NO myspace or facebook because they will still do it and then it will be a secret and you will not know who it is dealing with your kids

  2. In my opinion not very good websites. Watch them closely. there is a lot of adult oriented material there.

  3. You will need to CAREFULLY monitor these technologies used by your children...educate yourself before they ever get on!!!

  4. I suggest that you go to myspace.com, make yourself a little profile, and nose around. Same with facebook. I'm not sure how old your children are but it sounds like they are young and will need some supervision with it.

You'll get an array of answers that really won't tell you much necessarily. I found the best way is to go yourself (I made up a really basic profile in order to check on kids I worked with; it's easy and helpful.

  5. myspace is were u can meet friends or if friends are already on there they can talk.  u should help them set it up so u know the password and set the profile to pravite.  that way no one can see there profile useless the person is thier friend.  people can ask to be put ur kids have to approve them.

  6. ..You sound like me>>>I knew nothing until my niece came to live with me,,,,make sure you get a password so you can check daily as to whats going on,,As you know ,,there are a lot of weirdos out there in cyber-space and you don't want your child being drug into something that you cant know about!!!Great Question,,,hope every one here can help!

  7. Social networking sites. Myspace is a place where they can add all of their little middle school friends, read each others personalinformation on their profiles, send each other sexually explicit bulletins, be targeted by spam accounts with near-pornographic profile pictures that try to get them to visit their website and view "cam-whores", and generally have good time.

Facebook is like myspace, but is a lot cleaner, more friendly environment.

  8. I would go on and make a page for myself and see what it's all about BEFORE I let my daughter on.  Dig in and see how your children wouldn't just be talking to and have access to "their friends" but also to their friends friends and their friend and so on.  That's what I did....you will be amazed!

If you do allow them to make a page........make sure you know all the info about the accounts and the passwords.  Make sure you check it and see what kinds of comments they are being left and what they are saying.

I won't let my daughter have one.......but I might be a bit on the over protective side.  I did and still do talk to her about WHY I won't allow it.

    Good luck

  9. Get familiar with it ... the best way, create your own accounts on both. (I think facebook is becoming more popular than myspace right now). Probably in the near future, something new will come about and kids will flock to that website.

Anyways, make sure you have your children set their profiles to "friends only." You can do this by going into the personal/profile settings, this way only people she/he invites will be able to see her account.

If you create an account as well, you will be able to see what she/he is putting on her page and telling everyone about herself/himself.

  10. Its a site where people friends can meet and chat and talk about anything and everything.  Its harmless unless their targeted.
