I really want to leave England.

I would feel happier in a country where the environment and the wildlife are protected and respected.

I would prefer good weather (don't mind seasons though), cheap to live in, under-populated and unspoilt. Bin thinkin' of West Oz, Canada, NZ, Italy. Any ideas anybody?

  1. TASMANIA!!  Try googling the Tasmanian Wildeness, Cradle Mountain, the Franklin River etc.  It is underpopulated, one of the most unpolluted places on earth, has the cheapest real estate in Australia,  is covered with old forests that have never been touched, has a (mostly) very environmentally conscious population, has spectacular scenery and amazing wildlife.  My sister recently bought a small house on about 30 acres (some orchard, some wilderness, some cleared) for around AU$300,000.  They are putting in a big greenhouse, a chook shed, buying a cow and a couple of horses and plan to be almost subsistence.  They have hydroelectricity from a creek on their property, plan to grow fuel for biodiesel etc.  Everyone from the valley they live in get together every Saturday morning and exchange all the produce they have grown etc. and they all get together once a month at the local (small) hall for a meal together.  They think they have found paradise.

NB: Many tammar wallabies and pademelons amongst many other native species live on her property.

  2. New Zealand or Canada and we would be following you soon.

  3. New Zealand, its a great place and we definetly respect our environment and protect our wildlife.

There are breeding programs set up such as project "nest egg" to help with the diminishing population of kiwis, they are the most amazing bird.

Golden bay area at the top of the south is very much a "tree hugging" area, in fact there still exist hippy communes i think. many people grow their own veggies there and live very low eco footprint lifestyles. The weather is great up there too.
