  1. Not a lawyer. Why go to court? Pay the fine for not having a driver's license? See a lawyer. $50 at the most. It will cost you more with the judge. The lawyer will take care of it all. It is no big thing. If you go to court all you do is show the permit to the judge and that the car owner had insurance and was titled properly. It is not against the law to borrow a car. And then you go to the business office and dish out so much money.

You are worrying to much, relax. This is America, judges do smile here, sometimes, just kidding :-). Don't let all the guys on Answers scare you. They are a lot of BS. Be like the Americans aggressive. With the judge, a humbleness and no excuses.

  2. Put it this way, don't try pulling that "me no understand laws" or "I was late for college" type of pitiful excuse with the court. You need proper legal advice, not what you might get on here.

  3. Pack your bags

  4. Naughty...that should teach you a lesson..!! You will probably get sent down for twenty years..haha

  5. deportation

  6. you broke the law.you will be charged with aggravated unlicensed operator pay the fine law breaker

  7. It pays to learn the rules when you travel so you can "do as the Romans when in Rome".

Wouldn't surprise me if they revoke your privilege and make you ride a bus.

If you were in Mexico you would go to a dirty nasty jail.

  8. They will take your learning permat of you . And also prevent you from being able to put in for your test for a year or 2 not to sure how it all works

  9. You done the crime now do the time !!!!

  10. google it

  11. I am not sure what they will do to you. But I do know this for sure and it did happen to some international students who went to jail.

If you go to jail, you wont be able to attend classes. You will dropped form your classes. The school will report you to the INS and you will be out of status and then you will be deported. I am not trying ot scare you.

But I suggest you contact the international office of your school and have a really good lawyer ready.

  12. I am originally from California. We have really stiff laws there, you should really seek help from a lawyer were you appointed one for your court hearing? Did they impound the car you were driving?

You are only allowed to drive with a learners permit if you have a passenger in the front passenger seat who has a valid California driver's license and is minimum 25 years of age.

Do you have a drivers license from the country you originate from, if so which country is it?

If you do not get jail time, you will get community service hours and a stiff fine.

  13. your going to have a good time explaining your case.  Not sure what your going to get as in charges, but I would put money on its not going to be slap on hand.  The person that gave you car should get in trouble too, they probably wont, but I know if you dont have a license I wouldnt let you borrow any of my cars.   Depending on how old you are, going to put restrictions on getting license or probation on driving for a while is what i expect.

  14. Get in touch with a good lawyer you will need him. Did you have a drink? hope not.

  15. Be sure you do what you need to do in order to have a valid license when you go to court.

Don't pull that I'm a foreigner and didn't know the law.  Ignorance of the law is not a defense in the U.S. Courts.

It will probably be difficult now for you to get a license, because NOW you will have to prove you have insurance in order to get one.

We let people come here to study and they have no respect for our laws.  It really aggravates me, and frankly, I hope they throw the book at you.

  16. I think you are the epitome of irresponsibility. I think the judge will be quite hard on you and you deserve it. If you are intelligent enough to be in college then you should know how to stay within the law I doubt you will be driving for some time to come!

  17. You = f*****k E D

  18. Well, nothing much you can do.  You're royally screwed. :S  I don't know what will happen to you, but don't be surprised if you're sent back home.

  19. If you are a student, check in with the Judiciary at your school and get some advice as to how to proceed. The court does not take kindly to people operating with total disregard for the law, particularly when they are here as guests. You will at least receive a fine and restrictions with jail time a condition if you are caught violating the restrictions. Of course, if you live in Berkeley, the nothing will happen and you will probably receive a key to the city.

  20. Better hurry and get yourself LEGAL ON ALL illegal situations you are in.  Your consequence will be lots of fines and probably have your learning permit revoked.

  21. I don't know about California law but in the UK they will throw the key away.

  22. prison for life :)

just kidding: fee plus new insurance. i guess
