  1. Doing 91 in a 70 limit in Scotland is unlikely to be dealt with by a fixed penalty.

The Proculator Fiscal is more likely to put the case before a Sheriff. Few Sheriffs will deal with such blatant disregard of speed limits with mercy. If it is your first offence, expect a fine in excess of £400 plus costs plus 3 points.

For a repeat offence, upwards of 14 days in prision is more likely. If the offence occured on one of the "danger roads" in Scotland (A77, A75, A90, A9, etc.), then expect at least 90 days inside plus a fine in excess of £1000.

And, as an added "bonus", expect your insurance costs to double on renewal, although some insurers will refuse your custom if you have served a custodial term for a driving offence.

And if you try to evade Scottish justice because you live in NI, forget it. The High Court will issue warrant for your arrest and on return to Scotland you will face further charges which carry mandatory prision terms of 180 days.
