as i go on holiday in 5 weeks time.....(I know i shouldnt have booked without actually having a passport but im a sausage). Im going to use the post office check & send service as it states on the home office website that although not guaranteed (esp in peak times) they aim to issue it in 2 weeks time. However new rules state on the form that new applicants may have to have an interview to verify my identity and so I should expect it take around 6 weeks.... so I looked on the home office site and there it said I WILL have an interview.... I was born in the UK and have lived here ever sinse, I have enclosed my full birth certificate and my mothers passport details (she's also british as is my Father) ....so will I really need an interview? Presumably this is a peak period? Also new rules for first time applicants state that i cant fast track or pay for the premium service.....help!

  1. basically there is not much you can do.

The new rules are there for first timers like yourself.

Just let the passport office know your departure date - photocopy of tickets? and a nice letter explaining. They will try to help.

I don't think you are in the peak yet, give it 2 months, then people really panic for their August holiday.

  2. they do interviews now but you will get passport same day

  3. i got mine in february and i got it the exact same day pick up but i dont know if its changed:S

  4. Not everyone will be called for an interview but the possibility is still present.

There is nothing that you can do to avoid it if they do call you. Have you tried calling them to ask for a speedy visit?

Blame terrorists for all this not the Passport Office, we all have to be inconvenienced with additional security because of them.

On the positive side: you are not a total "saussage", nobody's perfect. You did exactly the right thing by using the Post Office check & send service.

  5. you certainly will have an interview-now everyone has one fora first adult passport

  6. You shouldn't need an interview but the sooner you send it the quicker they will have it to process, so get it sent and have your fingers crossed it gets here before your holiday!!

  7. You have been a very silly sausage.

Contact the passport office by phone or visit asap (have your ticket/booking details on hand). Good luck.
