I am attempting my first 2 appliqué quilts...?

Question

they are small lap quilts and I don't know if i am going to have it quilted by someone on their machine or do it by hand. Which is better? Should I have it quilted first or do the appliqué first?

You make the top first.

You can either do the quilting yourself, or have it done by someone else.  Church groups usually have a quilting bee, and any fabric store should be able to tell you whom does quilting.  Hand quilting is the BEST , but by machine is OK
