Like you said the dominican post system suks, so why sending anyway a card envelope, knowing it probably never reach the person adressed to?. Better send it by private mail

As far as the Dominican mail system goes, here's my experience: we were there in Punta Cana last week, mailed postcards on Monday, 4/14 (the resort told us the mail is picked up every 2 days) and, the postcards haven't arrived yet here in Rhode Island, U.S.(4/25).  Also, oddly enough, the postcards cost 50 cents each  and $2.00 each to mail (in U.S. dollars).  For a mail system that doesn't seem to be working, it's rather expensive.  I'd like to mail a letter (or even a small package) to the very sweet Dominican waitress from our resort, but I'm concerned she won't ever receive it.

From Florida or anywhere else in the USA it will cost you 90 cents.  After May 12, the rate jumps up to 94 cents.
