I am being medically discharged from the army. How long before they start the disability payments?

the Army has nothing to do with that..that's the purview of the VA.  you need to go tot VA and start you claim immediately upon discharge.

Too many variables to answer that one accurately

GET A service officer (my preference is the DAV, their the best)

they are also FREE, and he/she will help you with the entire process.

The only thing I do know is your first check will be retroactive to the date you filed for the claim, if approved.

They dont always come forward with that, its sad but you may have to fight for it... again.
