i do not know how to solve this situation. .

i was short 20$ last week on the register . and two days ago i was short 9$ and another 9$ yesterday . after i was short the first 20 bucks, i have been really careful with the money .. counting it and then giving it to the people.

i am very good at math so counting and giving away wrong change is out of the question ...

the only person thats using it is me and the manager when i am away on break. i really do not know what to do. i wasnt being short all this time and all of a sudden these big amounts.

i am not making 100s of dollars a day. around 40-50 after 8-9 hours of work. whatever i am being short is being cutt off from my check..

dont like it when i am working so hard, being so careful . and the managers saying stuff like i am slow and then having shortages ... i make around 300 bi weekly ...

  1. First of all, make sure you are counting the register before you begin your shift. It is possible the register is short at the beginning.

Another possibility is that the manager is actually stealing money from your register.

Additionally, they are not allowed to pull that amount from your paycheck. They can take it off your tips, but it is illegal for them to pay you less (take the money out of your paycheck). That may depend on the state that you live in, but you should check your local laws. Just mention that to your manager. Please note however, that they may just fire you, and they will have cause, so be careful when mentioning it to your manager.

  2. i personally think

u shud get the cameras checked

  3. if you are sure that it isn't you then i would consider going above your boss's head and talking to his boss about the situation b/c you wouldn't want the manager to be stealing money and you get fired for it and having it on your employment record.

  4. seriously I think your manager is doing it and you should see if you can get another manager to watch the manager taking over your drawer, do not waste time in doing this though, cuz if they think it's you they might get rid of you for that reason and put that on your work record so they can tell any other place you work for you are a thief. You can also try asking that your drawer be switched out when you go to break, just to make sure it isn't you, though most places wont do that, or ask if you can count it or try to count it before you go to break and maybe keeping track of what was sold during break(receipts). but seriously talk to another manager about this problem if you can or ask that another co worker watch your drawer instead of the manager when you go on break. I've worked in simular situations throughout my life and this is something you don't want to not do something about, you will only s***w yourself in the end.  But just because they have the title manager doesn't always mean they are honest upright people, I've worked with quite a few vicious, vindictive, thieving, backstabbing managers in my day and there are plenty out there. And from what you said about he/she critcizing you it seems like they dont like you and they would have no problem tryna s***w you over so they can get rid of you. You could try gettin your own camera and setting it up to record what your manager does in your drawer while your on break so you might be able to catch them. or hey try hanging around directly across from the drive through window on break every other day and seeing if it's short on the days you do that, and if not, just tell another manager, well when I watch_______(manager) during my breaks I notice my drawer doesn't come up  short, but when I don't watch, it does, think there's any connection? (tip- I've had customers give me bills that they swore were different(higher) to avoid these situations place whatever they give you on top of your register or next to it, as long as it's a safe place where it wont blow away, then put it in your drawer after giving them their change)

  5. i had the same problem before take a note pad and count the amount of ones ten and so on then take the sales made while you were on brake and do the math, you will have to do this for a while because its not going to be able to be solve quickly since he is only doing it at certain times you can also mark the money with a magic marker with a small dot then get management or yourself to see the money in his wallet for the marked bills, well hope this helps i caught my guy by just installing a cheap web cam and recording him and i even set it in broad day light and i looked right at it as he put the money in his pocket. anyway good luck this isn't right and its going to take courage to stand up and do whats right so good luck you can do it!

  6. When you start questioning the honesty of your employer - and have no way of knowing for sure, then I'd say it's time to start looking elsewhere, before the situation deteriorates.

  7. ~~This is a very serious thing happening to you. First-contact your Employment Development Office. In California it is illegal for a company to deduct any shortages from your pay. If so in your state also file a claim. You can not be held accountable for the money in your drawer unless YOU are the only one with access to it (and that would mean locking it when you stepped away), and for sure not sharing the drawer with another employee-even if it is management. So demand that this is corrected, even if you must contact the main office. The point here is to stand up for yourself, and not to leave a record which insinuates your are stealing from the till. Hopefully, you will get the money they have deducted back-with fines included. If I were you I would look for another job immediately if they do not give you the security you need on the cash drawer. Do not let them push you around, you have rights here and I wish you the best of luck!~~

  8. hmm get a new job.
