  1. You either have to pay, get some kind of help through Credit Card Consumer Counseling, Debt Settlement Programs or file bankruptcy...not good any way you look at it.

    Good luck!

  2. If you are working, they will garnish your wages until your debt is paid in full.

If you file taxes at the end of the year, and is expecting a return, they will take they share.

When they found out and get a hold of your accounts such as checking, saving, mutual funds etc, and they find out that you have available money they will freeze your accounts and withdraw all your funds.

And trust me they will find a way, they always do even if its 10 years later.

  3. If you can't pay...don't use the credit card!

  4. I think that this depends on what state you live in.  I can only speak for Arizona, but perhaps it will give you an idea of what you're up against.

In Arizona, you must provide a response to the court if you're being sued within just a few days-- I believe it's 10 days after being served.  Otherwise the court will provide a default judgement against you.  If you either lose the case, or a default judgement occurs, the plaintiff will have the right to either 1) do a court supervised seizure and sale of your assets up to the dollar figure that you owe, or 2)  Garnish your wages.  Either way, interest will likely continue to accrue until the debt is paid off.

I believe they have 5 years after the judgement to collect.  I'd do what I can to pay them off.  It can get ugly.

  5. Their no longer any debtors prison. Therefore the only options is for them to garnish wages if they go to that extreme. Typically they will just charge of the debt, call it a loss and your credit will suffer.

  6. They will take items from you to pay of the debt that you have.

  7. You will be charged more and more and more money, and eventually, you will lose money from your paycheck.  If you have enough debt, consider bankruptcy.

  8. Assuming you lose the lawsuit, they could potentially garnish your wages or lien your property. Gotta check your state laws to see what they can do and what exemptions you can claim, as every state can be a little different.

Have you checked the statute of limitations on this account?
