  1. I been to Carnival cruise and I would say it's allright I like Royal Carribean better. But Carnaval shows are entertaining.

  2. I have been to Grand Cayman and Ocho Rios, Jamaica via cruise ship twice.  Grand Cayman has a high standard of living and no street vendors.  Jamaica has a much lower standard of living and very aggressive street vendors.  Many people do not feel safe in Jamaica.  I never felt unsafe.

However, you have to use your head.  Don't wear expensive clothing or carry expensive items.  Don't go with someone who just gave you a winning lottery ticket to collect the winnings.  Keep your eyes open and look around you.

Next to the dock is the Island Village Shopping Center.  This is a very popular place for cruise ship passengers.  You will be safe there.  Also, there is a beach that charges $1 to enter (as of August 2004 - I didn't go to this beach in June 2007).  No vendors are allowed on the beach.  The sand is more like powder.  There are places to rent water toys (wave runners, paddle boats ...).  If you are looking for a relaxing beach experience, this beach (I believe the name is Turtle Beach) will do.

Or you can stay on the ship.  Since most people will leave the ship, the ship will be less crowded.
