surprisingly there is a home industry for manufacture of the strings for thongs that are sold by several large companies. Basically you stay at home with pieces of thin yarn and braid it using a counter-set turn creating different lengths and thickness of string that then is used in thongs. You can make over 5000 of these a day. At 22cents per wick (the industry name) that is quite a lot of money for a simple craft. Because I belong to a guild of thong makers, I am prohibited from sharing exact info; however, if you search on eBay you may find manufacturers looking for new talent. Good luck.

Visit your local library and look at all the books on knitting and other crafts. You're bound to find something that sparks your interest. I am a knitter, and it is very easy. Children as young as 3 can learn to knit. With a pair of sticks and some string, you can make something to keep yourself or someone else warm. Magic!

prestamped, cross stitch is pretty easy to do.
