I get Bachelor of Science in Mathematics last month. But now I just do not feel like going into graduate school of math. The problem is that I have lost interest in making proofs and no longer find any pleasure or excitement dealing with applied math.

However, if I end my education with B.S. in math, then i have limited career opportunities and it will take quite some time to reach high salaries.

So what is the next thing that i should do? I need something exciting to study and learn.

  2. Have you thought about statistics? You can apply this to many fields. You can get a degree in Public Health, and work with biologists and researchers (epidemiology), Clinical Trials (academic or drug companies), Bioinformatics (microarray analysis), Major League Baseball (front office work for runnings stats), Economics (stocks portfolio analysis). I have a friend with a grad degree in physics and he runs risk analysis models for a major insurance company. And he makes very good money!

Your options are NOT limited -- be creative!

  3. It is not unusual to feel bored with your subject after intense study.  However, if you really have lost interest in math, your background is an excellent starting point for many other subjects, so ask yourself what really interests you.

  4. there are numerous other careers you can take on, since you have a solid foundation in math. You could go into any kind of engineering, physics, computer science, economics, etc etc.

You could do a second bachelor in one of such fields and then see if they interest you more.  Math generally is very boring, because proofs are such a big pain and it seems that in advanced math there is nothing but making proofs or theoretical explorations, which has little or no connection to technology or benefit to man.
