I am breastfeeding and my son is 7 months old, I have yet to get a period but........

Question

Five days ago I was spotting.....only getting blood when I wipe. But it only lasted for one day and it never was in my underwear or anything....just when I wiped. I thought it was probably my period starting but I havent seJen anything since..........anyone know what it might be?

This just happened to me.  My son is 8 months, but at 7 months I had brown spotting for a few hours.  Then nothing for a week.  I was freaking out, I thought I was pregnant, even though we've been using condoms.

About a week after spotting I had a period.  Everything will be fine.  But take a test in a week or two if you have started yet and you're still worried.  You might not have a period, you could just be having a "hiccup".  Best of luck.

just a little spotting. your period usually does not start until 4 days after you stop breastfeeding. no worries :)

nothing is wrong, a lot of woman dont get a period while breast feeding.  I cant believe your doctors dont give you this information!

i got mine a week ago when my daughter started nursing less often, it was very light.  she is almost 8 months old.  im in the same boat.

Keep in mind that it may take a while for your body to have regular periods again.  Even those who get their periods while bf-ing still get them erratically for a few months.  So the spotting may have been a precursor to your period returning next month, or just an isolated event.

Another possiblility (not to freak you out), but are you using some method of birth control?  You will ovulate before your period returns-- is it possible that the spotting was implantation bleeding?
