You can emigrate to India. However,  to stay long term you need to have a job (i.e get a work permit and then get a residence permit) or invest in some business and then get a residence permit. Once you have a residence permit you can buy residential property in India. However you cannot buy agricultural property.

There are many countries around the world where as a foreigner you cannot buy a home!!!

India, thankfully is not one of these countries. There are many British people living in Goa with Holiday homes there.

There are also high quality schools there, the best being the Catholic ones for some reason.
