Here is the Decklist:

Figure of Destiny x 4

Balefire Liege x 4

Scourge of the Nobilis x 4

Recumbent Bliss x 4

Kithkin Zealot x 4

Mistmeadow Skulk x 4

Apothecary Initiate x 2

Spitemare x 4

Strip Bare x 4

Mass Calcify x 2

Boon Reflection x 4

Light from Within x 4

Plains x 22

So, what do ya think? My idea is gain a ton of life and keep the other guy from being able to do anything with my Recumbent Bliss. Is this a good deck idea? (Oh and Boon Reflection lets me gain 2x the life I would normally gain this turn, and it does stack, so with all 4 on the field, I would get 16x the normal life I would gain.)

  1. yes it is a couple more plains would be good though i personally run a white deck based on flying and vigilance

  2. You have most of a competitive Kithkin deck already. Just a few suggestions:

    1. Drop the life gain. Newer players are always attracted to this mechanic because they think that gaining lots of life makes them invincible... it doesn't. The only time that decks use life gain are when it's attached to another good effect that they want to use (Aven Riftwatcher), they need to buy one more turn to finish off their opponent, or they can gain infinite life as part of a combo.

    2. Add Goldmeadow Stalwarts, Knights of Meadowgrain, Wizened Cenn and Mirrorweaves to the deck. These are the backbone of any competitive Kithkin deck. If you can, try to add some Militia's Pride, since they prevent you from overextending.

    Here is what I'd recommend:

    Creatures -

    4x Goldmeadow Stalwart

    4x Figure of Destiny

    4x Knight of Meadowgrain

    4x Wizened Cenn

4x Leiges (Balefire is ok, but you never use it's damage ability... the U/W leige has flash which can really make a good combat trick)

    Spells -

    4x Mirrorweave

    4x Militia's Pride

    4x Unmake

    18x Plains

    4x Rustic Calchan

This leaves 6 maindeck slots for you to cusomize.

  3. Good start.  Don't every plan on having all 4 Boon Reflection out on the field at the same time.  It would take only 1 Fracturing Gust and all your life gain turns in to their life and you have no way of getting the enchantment back.  I like the Figure of Destiny/Balefire Liege Combo, I've built a deck around it myself.  I've also put in 4 Moonring, which is an interesting card I would play on my opponents upkeep to keep them from playing creatures or land during their turns.  I also think you are under-utilizing the Lieges ability.  I would play a few more red or red/white spells, like Fire at Will or even something as simple as shock.  You seem to be focused on gaining life when you can gain life while dealing direct damage to the face, but you can only deal direct damage if you have red spells.  One shock to your opponents face deals 5 damage, 2 from shock and 3 from the Liege.  If your opponent attacks, you play Fire at Will and deal 3 damage any way you choose to the attackers, 3 damage to his face, and still gain 3-6 life depending on if the Boon Reflection is on the field.

Don't get me wrong, it's a GREAT first deck, but I would be a little more aggressive with it is all I'm saying.

Welcome to Magic the Gathering, I hope you have as much fun playing as I do.

  4. looks ok, I would dump the mass calcify, wrath of god is better just don't over tilt

I'm not a big fan of life gain, I would rather win than be hard to kill, I don't like light from within because you can be in a lot of trouble but it is also a good way to never draw a land again

A possibility is using painters servant if you really want the 2 colors then you can always have both. I would look at deckcheck.net it will help you, look at standard

  5. you are pure plains better to mix it with artifacts. its hard for you to fight the combination of mountain and swamp even artifact. the best deck i have ever played against is combination of artifact, plains and blue because my cards were just kept returning to me.
