I live down in TX (S.A. area) and need to know what I can use to fill in the gaps in between the stones. I have read a little about something called Polymer(ic) sand but I don't know where I can find it. If anyone knows where I can find this stuff or if you know of any thing else that would work really well, I would greatly appreciate the help.

  1. I thought that the standard thing to use was stone dust. Or a mixture of stone dust with clay.

  2. Hi Blue,

What you do to the joint depends on how you set the stone.  I think it's best to always have pitch and 100% coverage on bonded stone installations.  If you went in that direction, you may want to get bagged Mason's Mix from HD for filling the joints.  Mix as directed and tuck point joints, avoiding the face of the stone.  If you aren't bonded, a swept in joint would work well.  Use a brick sand (coarse) and once swept in, spray with water, allow to dry, repeat process till full.

  3. hello my friend my name is Joe and I'm a paver stone installer out here in California... Ive lay-ed a few flagstone patios.. Ive seen that sand that you are talking about.. if the gaps are within an inch apart I suggest that you use clean playground sand that comes in a bag (16# mesh)sweep sand over patio fill in in cracks and pump spray a concrete sealant over the flagstone and heavy through the gaps. they make  clear or wet looking sealants... make sure that the flagstone pieces are well swept and cleaned before you apply seal coat...

  4. bank sand will pack in good

  5. I've always used crushed limestone.
