My wood will be covered and I will prime and paint it white for more protection. I want something that will last and not crack or warp (minimal). Hemlock, fur, pine, all treated, or cedar??? Since I am painting the wood it will all look the same. I don't want to spend a fortune if it is not necessary. Please help :) I believe in spending extra to do things correct the first time.

  1. Cedar but it's a little pricey. Otherwise good pressure treated will do. Unsure how pressure trated accepts paint. I think it does just fine though.

    Cedar to do it right..............

  2. I would use ceder personally because the wood itself is hardwood. Then I wouldn't paint it because if you did paint it after awhile you would have to repaint it because the paint would come off, I parents just repainted their deck and it was a pain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Second I would actually put a wood sealer on it like Thompson Water sealer so it would repel water and moister so the wood won't warp and crack.

  3. Pressure treated fir should be fine along with an exterior wood stain
