I have already built the entire frame for this shed, but have yet to start the roof. I do not know how many rafters I should have and at what pitch I should use as well. And how do I determine if I have the right pitch once I construct each rafter. I already know how to build the rafters. That is the easy part.

  1. depends on what your needs are do you need the head room or for extra storage if so make it a steep pitch like 12 12 pitch.if not 8 12 is good for snow load  at 16"centers.so that would be for every 12" of travel there is 8" of rise you could also go with 6"

    i prefer 6 12 pitch

  2. I would use 16" centers for rafter spacing and the pitch can be whatever you want as long as water will run off.

  3. It would be most appealing if you matched the pitch of your shed to that of your house . If your roof rafters are along the 12ft side you need 10

  4. set the rafters  at 24in apart ...

4/12 would work ...  with tails of 16in  to let the rain run off

  5. 16 inch centres with a minimum pitch of 25 degrees ..you will need 10 rafters
