I am buying PC and it has a Dual-Core Xeon 3065 / 2.33 GHz CPu is this any good?

i am going to use this for vieos, internet videos ,music ......by the way this a server but can i install windows vista on it ? and use it as kidda of media centre ..it has 4gb of ram ...

  1. I think you are looking at the HP, for the money its great value server, but I dont recall Vista drivers, nor does it have onboard sound.


  2. That HP (from your other question) is designed to be a server, not as a home computer. It doesn't have a sound card, the onboard video card is very primative (it will /not/ do Aero as is) and I'm not even sure if it can use a PCIe video card. (Even if it can it's speed will be crippled.) Also, there don't appear to be any hardware drivers for non-server versions of Windows so while you could in theory install the Vista core based Windows Server 2008 and use the drivers for it, you'd have to buy a copy and the OEM version is over $600 and I don't think it includes all the bells and whistles that regular Vista does.

    In short, don't buy a server if you don't want to run a server, that's all they're really designed to do.


  3. XP-64 may be a better choice if drivers are not available, or possibly even 64-bit server2003 or server2008 if you can obtain them.
