I am buying a house and I am not sure what to do about my apartment. They wanted a 60 day notice plus 2 months

I have thought about finding someone to rent it but am afraid they will mess up the apartment. I don't know what else to do.

Did you sign a lease or contract when you first rented there.  If you did not sign one then regardless of what the landlord says he cannot force you to stay or pay now.  Be direct and to the point when you tell him " conditions cannot be made after the fact".  However if you signed a lease specifying those conditions then you are liable to pay.  I really think that it is extreme and you may be able to go to court
