  1. I am a self taught guitarist who is now in a band. What you can do is buy guitar lesson videos and learn from that. BORING. The funner but harder way which is the way i went is to get guitar tabs starting with easy songs and going up as you go. A good site for this is ultimate-guitar.com. Good site and you should start with songs like Smoke on the water, sunshine of my love, and fly away by lenny kravitz. Good luck. and to those who rock, we salute you!

  2. just like google free guitar lessons online...or search "free online guitar lessons" on yahoo answers...theres a few websites that go step by step.  Like, they tell you what to buy, then how to position, and all that. Good luck

  3. For the price of your first guitar... keep it between $200-300 pick up a book of scales or beginner lessons and start from the beginning. Don't try to learn how to play a whole song right off the bat- you'll get frustrated and don't try to copy the group you listen to most- you'll pick up some bad habits. Don't be surprised if your finger tips hurt and you wanna throw your guitar through your T.V. the first few months. Just walk away, do something else and come back to it.

  5. Well the most common way to learn how to play is to learn how to play songs that you like.

You can look up tablature for your songs here:

    http://www.ultimate-guitar.com

You can learn how to read tablature here:

    http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/lessons/f...

Also http://www.youtube.com is a great source.  Type in a song you want to learn and add the word "cover" to the end of it.  This will show videos of amateurs playing the song in front of the camera and a great way to learn strum patterns.  "Guitar Lessons" is also a good search on YouTube that will give you a good start.

  6. Yes, I am a guitar master. First you must find your sound. It could be blues or rock or whatever you like. Everyone is different. Then learn how to read Guitar Tab. After you learn that, learn a really hard song. It would increase your guitar skill drastically than learning a easy song. After learning a few songs, and getting the feel for your style and the guitar. Learn Guitar Theory.

  7. Strat or telecaster are both great guitars although they sound different , i use super slinky strings, also you need a practice amp and a tuner when you first start.

Have a great time i hope to see you in the charts !!

  8. I find the best thing to start people on is nirvana. It's all terribly easy, having only a few simple chords. They're often power chords, which can be difficult for beginners but this shouldn't trouble you for too long, and will be good for strengthening your fingers which will make everything else alot easier later on. The simplicity of the chords also makes it easier for you to recognize keys, at least in the e and a strings.

Oh! and you'll need to learn a blues scale at least, so you know what sounds decent in sequence and to help with fingerwork.

  9. buy a fender squire first. dont waste your money on expensive gear if you cant play.
