I am canadian my husband is australian would like to move to canada for 1 year any suggestions on how to?

We both live in australia LOVE it here but would like to experiance canada for all its seasons... so has anyone done the same? He owns his own concrete business and would love to work over there for the 12 months as we own our own house so we would need to keep things going on this end as well..

I am a citizen of canada and a permenant resident of oz.

anyone who has done this before,, let me know how it went... and any dramas you have encountered??

  1. Really all you need is a visa for your husband and it should be all settled, that takes care of the living there part, the business side i have o answer to.

You and your husband can visit.  Visits generally are limited to 6 months but possible could be extended.  Your husband can not work while he is visiting.    If he wanted to work he would have to apply for a work visa.  In order to qualify for a work visa he will need a job offer already plus the employer will have to get a labour market opinion that states that their is no other or lack of qualified individuals in Canada to perform that same occupation.    IF you were sponsoring him to live in Canada with you then he could eventually get his PR status and work then.  But clearly by your post your intentions are not to make Canada your home so the sponsoring for PR status would be out.  

    Go visit for 6 months,  bring suffiecient funds or have them available to support him for 6 months or longer and if you both still want to stay another 6 months apply for an extentions of his visitor status.
