My entire is tall and athletic. We have one very good setter that is 5-9. Then the rest of the team is mainly hitters. One player is 6-2 and can pass okay, hit and block pretty well and is our second best setter. We have one 6-0 player that is mainly back row. We have one player at 6-6 and two at 6-5 that can block and hit very well but they struggle with passing and setting. One player at 6-4 that is probably our best hitter and can block very well and also can decently play back row. One player that is 6-1 and can pass very well and sets okay. His front row play is okay but is best in the back.

What i need to know is what offense would best fit our team and what positions would fit what players. Can you help me?

Also, if you know about any 16 and under boys volleyball tournaments in the the kansas city area please let me know

  1. jdog 33 has a great answer.  Everything after this sentence is what I would change in that answer.

    Nothing.

  2. First off positions. Take the 6-6 and the 6-5 kids who can hit and put them in the middle. That way you that use ure best passer (prob the 6-1) kid as a libero sub for both of them. Put the 6-4 kid at outside and have him play all around. Use the 6-2 kid at opposite (weak side) because there he can be your secondary setter if ure setter recieves first ball and also is a viable hitting option. You need another outside however.

The best offense to run in your situation is a 5-1 with your 5-9 kid setting all the way around. Spread the ball around and make it deceptive. When your setter is in the front row, run alot of backslides and 3-2 balls for the middle. Push the ball out to your 6-4 kid alot after the middle blocker respects the middle. Set opp every so often to keep the defense honest. If you can, run tandems (if your coaching you should know what that means) with either a front row and a back row middle player, or have the middle run the first part of the tandem and the opp come around the setter and hit. Thats all.
