If I were you you can get a generator powered set for you bike. You can get one on ebay for about $25 dollars and they work well. I have two bicycles with these generator sets, and they come with a headlight and a tailight, and the good thing is the headlight is very bright. The other benefit is since these lights are not battery powered, you don't have to waste money to replace batteries.

The other great thing about generator set is that when you don't need it, just keep the generator off the tire and it won't turn on!

Go to the book store and check out the latest copy of Make magazine. They have a DIY bike light that can be made for cheap.

where yellow put reflective tape on you and bike have a light on the bike. make sure there the peadle reflecters on it. ride on sidewalks
