She is complaining about her back hurting. I don't think this is normal. She'll say her arms & legs are hurting every now and then but I figure that this is growing pains. I asked her where her back hurt and she said in her middle upper back. What do you think?

  1. Asked her when did it start doing that, and take her to a doctor.

  2. Pain in the back is usually not a good sign, but it could be something as simple as a muscle pull, she needs to be seen by a Dr. to determine what it is.

  3. Take her to the doctor - whats the harm if its just growing pains at least your mind will be at rest.

  4. watch her:

walking, sitting, sleeping style, how she plays, does homework etc.

check her mattress. is it too hard or soft.

it sometimes due to wrong postures, back pains.

but you should not waste more time, just see ortho immediately.

  5. ask her if she has bumped her back! otherwise, go to the doctor if she didn't bump it.

  6. hmmm go see a doctor see if there actually is a problem

  7. check her postures as she sits! is there good seating in the house? she is growning all the time, so the growth needs to be put into line lol!!!

I know with adults a large percentage of back pain is muscle related!

after seeing a doctor, try some gentle yoga movements and try gentle massaging to before sleep, the benifits of stretching in the morning are good too!

MSN and chondroitin are good supplements to take, they are the building blocks and lubricant for cartelidge, and have the bodies natural equivelent of ibuprofen!

    i hope this has helped?

  8. No doubt growing pains. To say your daughter is not normal makes you not normal. If you're that concerned call a doctor you abnormal woman!

  9. It could just be growing pains but if your concerned you should definitely make her a dr appointment...at least you'll have peace of mind

  10. It could be just growing pains but with a child that young it is really hard to tell.  I think I would take her to the doc just to be sure.  How often does she have these pains, are they associated with a strenuous activity, over tired, certain times of the day, or lack of activity?  Lots to consider here, best to discuss her symptoms with her pediatrician.  Best wishes, I hope it is nothing.

  11. I had a friend who used to cry from his growing pains in his back and legs, so that could very well be it. Has her height shot up recently? You might want to ask a doctor next time you see one.

  12. Back pain in a child is NEVER normal. See your Dr right away.
