I am confused. What is the difference between enthalpy and entropy?

Please explain the major difference so I can understand

  1. enthalpy is heat

    entropy is disorder

    so when you burn butane... the heat given off is due to the enthalpy change between reactants and products (-ve enthaply change)

    from the equation you can see there are more moles of gas on the right than the left.... gas is more disordered than liquid which is more than solid. so +ve entropy change.

    C4H10 +6.5xO2 --> 4xCO2 + 5xH2O
