I am confused about Obama's stance on the Iraq War, can you help me?

Obama claimed he was against the war from the beginning, now he has Biden as VP, Biden not only voted YES to the Iraq War, but was also one of the many Democrats that pushed us into going to Iraq.

Is Obama confused and bewildered again because he lacks experience and good judgement?

Is this decision above his pay grade or his common sense?

How can Obama spin this sad choice for a VP?

  1. Obama also speaks out against Washington lobbyists. Biden has a son who is ::::::drum roll please:::::: A WASHINGTON LOBBYIST!!!! Now doesn't that make Obama sound even more like a hypocrite?

  2. I am also confused on Barrack H Obama's position on Iraq.  It has changed so many times that I am lost.

He lacks judgment.  That is a given.  He hung around Rev Wright for 20 years, who hates America.

He has 143 days of experience before he decided to run for President.

He is an elitist Harvard liberal who has never held a real private sector job.

  3. Obama is in a tailspin...just wait until the debates!

  4. Hes for the war. He speaks against it, but votes to fund it, knowing people dont pay enough attention to look at his voting record.

Obama wants to spread the war to other countrys. Both parties want this because it allows unquestioned expansion in government size and power and abuse of civil liberties.

Biden is another neolib who supports the war just like the neocons.

Hundreds of thousands of dead civilians at the expense of you  and I mean little to the democrats or republicans. Bottom line is war benefits the governmet at the expense of the people, too many have paid with thier lives.

  5. Obama has been all over the map on the Iraq war, depending on who he is talking to.  Everything from 16 months to 60 months.  But after he showed his complete inexperience with the Georgia/Russia war, he needed someone with foriegn policy experience, thus Biden.

  6. Even worse than your confusion is Obama's own apparent confusion over his policies on this war.

  7. This is  typical Obomba's usual and natural, uh duh bla ma uh uh you see uh duh well um um um uh when uh uh with a creative flip flop!!!...at the end!

  8. Well, ultimately the choice of how to go about using executive powers is supposed to lie with the reigning Commander-In-Chief. However, Bush Sr. or d**k Cheney could have very well been pulling some strings and setting certain plans or agenda's into motion without the general publics knowledge. And that's not to say that every presidency has some people doing things that should be left up to the president's discretion. (We really don't have the slightest idea what goes on behind closed doors in Washington, it's not as though there will ever be a Real World:White House Edition or something.)

Yes, Obama picking Biden as his Vice President was done more out of a concern the democrats had, in an attempt to reach out to a larger demographic area that otherwise would have unanimously went to McCain. Similar tactics have been used in the past for elections as close as this one is anticipated to be, sometimes complete polar-opposites are chosen as Vice-presidential running mate's because the party believes it may be the edge they need to win the electoral votes from the sway states (which the next president will definitely need to do in order to win, regardless).

In my opinion, it probably would have been much more beneficial to his campaign if he had chosen a level-headed ex-general or high ranking military officer. Choosing a veteran with an impeccable record and good military understanding, would've perhaps garnered more support from a large percentage of American's who feel Obama to be under qualified in assuming the role as Commander-In-Chief, because he would have a highly qualified veteran there to advise him(even though a president will be largely advised by the Joint-Chiefs of Staff and highly qualified military personnel regardless). According to recent polls(which are, just polls for now) more people believe that McCain would is better suited to be our next Commander-In-Chief, even though Obama has more public support with regards to approaches aimed at improving the economy. We'll just have to see how his choice plays out in the subsequent months, both political party's undoubtedly take much time and effort deciding which VP candidate will tip the odds in their favor the most.

  9. he wants to surrender before it's too late and we win.

  10. He's the opposite of John Kerry.  He voted against the war (well, kind of) before he voted for it (by selecting Biden).

  11. Many people supported the war initially but have learned that it was a grave mistake. It makes one humble to admit a mistake.

The mess we are in is not easy to get out of and I hope that somebody will find a way in which few or no more people get hurt.

I pray for all of us.

    Ingrid

  12. I seem to recall Biden is one of the Dems who voted for Iraq and wound up regretting it after the fact...
