I have completed Bcom and also gave MBA and MCA entrance. MBA entrance i scored less marks comparatively to MCA and i got admission for MCA in MET college Mumbai. So what do i do ? Should i take a year drop and prepare for MBA entrance, actually MCA is a 3 years course and MBA is a 2 years course so it wont matter much as at the end i ll be completing my MBA or MCA course in 2011 . I am really confused :(

  2. Friend,

I really had the same confusion when i came across this situation. I'm currently doing my 2nd year MCA. I finally dropped the idea of joining MBA and I pursued with MCA.

My suggestion would be, MCA is valuable wherever u study. I.T is not going to drop for 20 more years. Believe this.

MBA is valuable only if you pursue it in an esteemed institution. So if you choose to study MBA, see that u study in the top most colleges in India. Never even try to look up an institution that just offers good placement. Check out the list of companies visiting in that campus if you preferred that.

But MCA is not like that. You'll certainly get a job and you can move. But MBA is more valuable than MCA.

Conclusion : Continue with ur MCA for 1 year, prepare seriously for IIM, Symbiosis, XLRI, etc. Suppose you couldn't enter such colleges, never get disappointed. Continue MCA. Its a valuable course. I'll suggest you what to study later.

All the best for ur future. Take care.

  3. Simple BA then MBA is useless.First u should go for any professional steam/technical steam, then only go for MBA.
