  1. Yes! Get to your local Post Office that issues passports, with your children AND their birth certificates early in the morning. The lines will be long at this time of year.

  2. Yes....go to the court house...you also need a current picture...walmart does passport photos for about $5.00 and it only takes about 5 minutes to get them. I believe that both parents will have to sign for the 12 yr old to get the passport...think the cut off age for one parents signature is 13. You will need birth certificates and ss cards as well as about $90. for each passport. My son just went in January

  3. NO.  Not until 2009.  As of right now, anyone under 18 years old only needs their birth certificate, as long as both parents are going.  If only one parent goes, you need a notarized letter from the other parent saying they can go.

It is a good idea, to lessen the hassle, to get passports for them.

The BEST way to know for sure is to locate a local Mexican consulate.  That way you can find out about necessary tourist visas also, and other necessities.

  4. If you are American citizens, Everyone, regardless of age needs a passport to FLY to Mexico.  To travel to Mexico by LAND, passports are not needed until June 2009.  Adults currently need a photo I.D. and birth certificate and children need their birth certificates.  See site below for CURRENT, CORRECT info.

  5. You don't need a passport to enter Mexico unless you are taking a plan.  If you're crossing the border by land then all you need are their birth certificates.....
