  1. You can definitely lose weight as a vegan or vegetarian, unless you become one of those junk food vegetarians who don't eat vegetables.  (Ironic, isn't it?)

  2. Basically, no meat or animal by-products. Mayonaisse, butter, cheese, milk, etc.

I lost about 20 lbs. (140 to 120 lbs) going from vegetarian to vegan and I've kept it off for 2 years.

  3. Vegetarians don't eat foods that come from DEAD animals. (No flesh, no gelatin, etc.)

Vegans don't eat foods that come from dead OR living animals. (So no eggs or dairy. Many won't eat honey, either.)

You can lose weight going vegetarian or vegan, but if your diet is already healthy and you keep it that way, you probably won't. Being a vegan doesn't always mean eating fewer calories (and it shouldn't, unless you're eating too many now).

  4. vegetarians don't eat any Dead animals. they have dairy in there diet unlike vegans. Vegans wont eat anything made from animals. You lose some weight ether way and you will function better in some cases. I think it would be easier on your body to start out as a vegetarian and after a while go vegan.

  5. Being a vegetarian means you live on a diet consisting of grains, vegetables, fruits and dairy products. A vegetarian condemns meat eating due to the nature of the way animals are killed for food and for the fact that humans do not need meat in order to be healthy or to survive. Vegetarians believe that animals have as much as a right to live as humans do.

A vegan also supports the same ideals and beliefs as a vegetarian but they do not consume any products derived from animals (such as gelatin; found in marshmallows, jello, etc.) nor do they wear any animal products such as fur, leather, or wool; or use animal tested products such as shampoo, soap, cologne, and other products.

You can loose weight by becoming a vegan. you are eating less of fatty foods such as meat and others and more of grains, fruits, and vegetables.

if you are looking to become a vegan cold turkey; let me tell you its not easy. being a vegan myself i cant tell you that its something you have to commit yourself to. if you feel you cannot succeed immedietly; do not give up. try going pescatarian (only eat fish) or pollo vegetarian (only eat poultry; such as chicken, turkey, and duck.) as i once did. and work your way to becoming a vegan. there are many forms of vegetarians.

    good luck and best wishes!
