I went on this diet for approximately 3 days a few years ago. I did not stick with it. I don't feel that it's the healthiest way to eat. That said; I am trying to loose ALOT of weight and need something that will work quickly so I do not loose faith. Any positive Atkins advice out there...Thanks

  1. Fad diets don't work.  Period.  As soon as you go back to eating normally, you'll gain it all back.  Do it the old-fashioned way by diet and exercise.

  2. The atkins diet works for some people, but that is because of their particular metabolic typing.  You first need to get metabolically typed to know what foods will affect your metabolism positively in the direction you want it to go.  Once you know your type, you will be able to choose foods that digest well and are not thrown off to fat.  The next thing is to understand fat, both in your body and what you eat.  The fat tissue in the body, called adipose tissue, acts like an endocrine gland because when the lack of calories happens, it secretes leptin, a hormone that causes the hypothalamus to send messages to the pituitary to slow the metabolism.  It is the body's way of dealing with starvation.

There is NOT one diet that is good for everyone.  In fact, most diets are lessons in starvation.  When you reduce your calorie intake, you need to prevent the body from going into this starvation mode, because the next thing is to keep reducing and finally, the weight just won't come off as you become very unhealthy.

Most people have problems with grains because of the phytic acid content.  Ancient people soaked their grains overnight and got rid of the phytic acid.  Most people in America are told that eating fat is bad if you want to lose weight.  These are ignorant people that have no clue what they are talking about.  You need to get your calories primarily from fat, not carbs.  This satisfies the leptin response and will cause the body to use up fat stores and give you sustained energy as well.  To eat just protein is not good, in fact, any excess protein the body doesn't use, is converted to saturated fat and stored.

If you are a person that metabolizes carbs better than protein, going on the atkins diet can be disasterous for you.  Get metabolically typed first.

    good luck to you

  3. im no expert on dieting but i do know personally at least 5 people that have tried the atkins diet the results are yes they did lose the weight that they wanted to but the bad part of it is once you stop doing the diet you gain it all back and then some im not saying that these people returned to their old life style per say, but to lose all that weight and gain it back and then some not worth it, ive read some on line years ago that this happens to alot of people i dont know exactly all the details of the diet i suggest you look around and find what fits you i to am also wanting to lose some serious weight.. good luck!!

  4. No!!!! do not use atkins, it's health risk in the long run sucks! if you do choose to only use it for a few weeks to get some weight off, as it is useful to shed pounds fast but really in the long run diets dont work, these are usually fads, please trust me on this! The best thing to do is eat in MODERATION, that is the key to losing weight and keeping it off, it is your god given right to have cake or something good every once in a while.   but if you do choose atkins, like i said only do it for a little while then in the long term switch to eating in moderation

-I recommend  you buy the book Sly Moves, it won't dissapoint and is filled with much great informaition
