Any advice on total cost (per day/week), best cities, hotels, transportation and sights are greatly appreciated. I'm thinking Bangalore, New Delhi, Mumbai (sp?) or Dharamsala.

and dont just visit cities .. its boring.

  2. dnt worry. english is widely spoken

  3. check it here pls

  4. I really enjoyed visiting the Seashore Temple in Tamil Nadu. There are some really nice architectural temples. Hire the guides in all the archeological sites. They are very reasonable and negotiable, but they tell wonderful stories which will enrich your trip.

Visit during Diwali.  It was an amazing party.

If you drink alcohol, be aware that no alcohol is served during elections in parts of India.

English is spoken in the cities, but the more rural areas are difficult.  I recommend finding someone that speaks the regional languages as well as hindi. Hindi is prevalent, but not everyone speaks it.

  5. its ok,,,,its not too costly,,it is around15usd per day......enjoy!!!! don't miss kerala and kashmir..........also visit ooty in tamil nadu...... don't miss these places

  6. You can find accomodation in all of those cities for under 5 British pounds (or 10 US dollars).

The best advice would be to buy a copy of the lonely planned guidebook for India and make your own plans from there. Have fun

  7. It wont cost more than 100 $ per day max - may be even 25 $ in some places. Travel by train or cheap flights ( kingfisher airlines etc) ,

India is too large to cover in 1 trip - so concentrate on north or south india

There is nothing much in the large cities,
