, Beethoven, Van Gough, and in five thousand years time - as famous as Homer (if he ever existed) is now.

Am I talking rubbish? Or is he truly one of the masters of the 20th Century?

  1. I don't know about Homer...really, most people probably just think he's the dad on "The Simpsons". One aspect of Dylan's work that I think will make it live on is that it is very accessible to everybody. His language is not elitist and his music is extremely listenable. If people ever tire of pop c**p and heartless noise, Dylan will move up to a demigod status among the masses, instead of simply the living legend that he is now.

  2. He is truly a great writer, poet, amazing words and storytelling in all his songs, grew up listening to him as my brother always had a bob dylan album on, saw him in concert in London years ago.

  3. He already is.

  4. Most of the people you have used as example are writers - and written word seems to survive much better than music. For all the music that has been before our time - there is little in comparision to literature, that has actually survived time. Much music dates and becomes unfashionable, becomes lost. Who knows what will happen in the future - I don't have a crystal ball - it really depends on what survives the ravages of time and what does not!

  5. In a hundred years time, Bob will just be a footnote in the history of pop music.   I'm sure that some performers that we don't really think about much today, will be more well known in the future compared to Bob Dylan.

  6. The questions in, "Blowin' in the Wind," (How many roads must a man walk down before they call him a man?) will always be profound.  You may be right.

  7. I agree that Bob Dylan has definitely earned a spot in fame.
