I've been taking Vicodin for severe headaches. About 2-3 a day. Is this ok for my unborn baby? My doctor gave me the ok, but I'm still worried about the well being of my unborn baby.

  1. Ask for second opinion from other doctor! but since you're done to your first 3 months, its safe to take medicine..esp. its a prescription of your doctor. So, it might be okey.

  2. I'm surprised your dr. said OK, b/c that is a major heavy duty drug.  When I was pregnant, i didn't want to take cough medicine and I coughed for about a month.  I finally had to take something, though.  Did he say why?  One of my friends had migraines and she had to be medicated and her baby's fine, but he was born prematurely, so that might have effected it.

The only time I took Vicodin was when I had a kidney stone & believe me, it's true when they say it's worse than labor.

  3. I suffered from sciatica and took some heavy duty strength Vicodin for the last six weeks of my pregnancy and my now 10 year old daughter is beautiful and extremely smart.  I wouldn't worry, sorry for your headaches.

  4. Even though your doc gave them to you I still wouldnt take them. I would take only tylenol.
