I've read that Chicken Pox can cause foetal abnormalities... is that just if I were to get Chicken Pox - or could any foetus that is (fingers crossed - AGAIN this month) in there be at danger???

  1. If you had chicken pox as a child then you are immune and your fetus is (or would be) safe. If you have not ever had chicken pox then you should wait to try to get pregnant until after you are safe.

  2. i cant say for absolute certain but i think if you have already had it there should be no problems... i had chicken pox as a kid and was around someone with shingles when i was pregnant and all panicked i called my OB and was told since i already had them i had nothing to fear

  3. If you had it as a child then there are no problems.

"If you have been infected with chicken pox once before, then you are most likely immune to getting chicken pox again."

"If chicken pox occurs within the first trimester, the risk of birth defects is 0.5-1 percent"

  4. I think if you have had chicken pox yourself  you should be ok.Both my girls had chicken pox whilst I was pregnant with my third child and I was fine (I had chicken pox as a child) I only had a month to go so was at the end of my pregnancy.
