I have 2 more payments to complete my plan but it shows that there is a balance of 7 months on the plan. Can anyone explain this. I will pay 2 more months and then what? Thanks for any clarification.

  1. It's a possibility that your case is running long because claims were filed that weren't anticipated, or your attorney filed a post-confirmation fee application that caused the plan to run long, or you haven't submitted all your tax refunds.  It's also possible that the Ch. 13 website is simply not up to date.

Your plan cannot run longer than 60 months; your case may expire without a discharge if you don't take care of any deficiency.  You must contact your attorney immediately.  If your attorney isn't responding to you, call the case auditor in charge of your case at the Trustee's office.  Sometimes they will speak to debtors directly.

  2. Call the attorney handling your chapter 13 plan, they can easily access the US Bankruptcy Trustees website or call them to find out why it's shjowing 7 months and not 2 months balance. Your attorney is your attorney until you complete the plan, that's what they are getting paid for.
