When there is a lot of stress and pressure, how do you handle it? I am a goalie and sometimes the pressure and stress of trying to block the possible winning shot gets to be too much. Any advice on how to deal?

  1. woo i play water polo at my high school too!

take a deep breaths throughout the game and this will help you stay calm...

but whenever you get scored on, just remember, the ball got past 7 other people, and then just happened to get by you too.--- its never really the goalie's fault, though i know from playing polo goalie can be realll tense!!

  2. just chill, if someone makes a goal one toy its the fields players' fault for letting them get by.

  3. I think the best thing for a goalie to do is realize that it is never all your fault!!! If your team loses, it is usually not because the goalie missed a couple blocks...since your defensive players should have helped out more!!

So I think the best thing for you to do is relax, and dont worry if you miss a couple shots, your team should not expect you to save the game for them if they dont want to swim back and play defense!!!

  4. Try not to think about it to much.  I know sometimes when I start thinking and then I get mad at myself for missing that last block and then I totally miss the next one too.  So just breathe and concentrate on the ball.  Good luck

  5. Stretch before the game. Take deep breaths. I find that there is always less pressure when the goalie does not get any five meters called on him/her, so avoid those.

  6. hey i play water polo for my high school, too! Okay, you always got to relax. Don't think of it as it's totally your fault because you have your teammates there to help, you. If you believe in yourself, you'll find it much easier to relax and just enjoy the game. I've found out it's always much easier to just relax and have a positive attitude when trying to do your best. I'll never forget this one game I had in overtime where my coach told me I had to win the sprint for my team and I was so nervous, and everyone was cheering for me it was a tough game...I won it though and it totally helped to relax, believe in myself, and give it my all.

    best of luck!

  7. I used to play water polo, but my horses kept drowning and it got too expensive to keep buying new ones so I had to quit the sport.

Hope you liked the joke and that is a key to beating stress -- find something funny to laugh about.  It works every time, even if for only a minute.  As some sage once said, laughter is the best medicine.

  8. Stare down and intimidate your aggressor.Get together with your team mates and coach for defensive postures about each opposing team!

  9. take a deep breath, shake ur arms and loosing up
