I was curious if anyone knew of a great, and CHEAP place to find cute dorm decorations, with the exception of Target, PBTeen, Delias, RLH.org, and etc? Thanks.

  1. ROSS!!!! and overstock.com,. ikea was awesome to, tonz of cheap stuff that is amazingly cute!!!

  2. Bed Bath and Beyond has a lot of stuff like shelves and hanging closet organizers. WakeUpFrankie.com had bedding, curtains, pillows, etc.

    Good luck!

  3. First, get a plan...  Look at some Do-it-Yourself (decorating) websites for ideas.  Here are a few, but do a search & see what you come up with.  (Add "budget" to the search terms and see if you get budget ideas.)

    Some tips & ideas:

    (More useful considerations here:)

This is an amazing site for a lot of DIY projects:

(Put "Dorm room" in the search box for starters.)

After you get an idea of what you want (a theme), perhaps you could visit thrift shops, "junk stores" (& other such shops), flea markets, and yard sales.  Get things that you can paint or fix up for your room.  You may be able to find sports equipment, decorative pillows, furniture...  Also, check out sale areas at (regular) stores --just in case they have something you might like, reduced to a low price.

At places like Pier 1 Imports, you can get inexpensive items -- fish nets, novelties for shelves, book ends....  If you need fabric, sewing departments or stores usually have sections/tables of very reduced fabrics & reminants.

Paint?  Visit Home Depot, Lowe's, and other hardware stores -- they often get paint returned to them because "it's the wrong color" and, if it was mixed for a specific customer, the stores mark the paint down (to a few dollars) to move it fast. [ Go to the Paint Department.]

There's always e-Bay and classified ads in your local paper -- for furniture, lamps, and other things you could consider.  Also, check the classifieds for a listing of yard & garage sales.

Buying things at yard & garage sales and "personalizing" them will make them unique (different than store bought items)!

You could ask relatives if they have anything you could use (furniture, curtains, books, lamps, rugs...).  Take a look -- they may be free gifts!!  :)

    Hope that helps a little.

    Good luck in school!!

  4. IKEA for SURE!!!

They have bold colored accessories and funky comforters. You can do a lot for the buck :)

Go to www.ikea.com and go through their sample pages for bedrooms, or youth bedroom (awesome stuff there!)

Good luck and I know where you're coming from! :)

  5. www.RockYourWall.com has a lot of cool room accessories like PBTeen for way less money. Colored magnetic dry erase tiles, cork tiles and so much more for a very cool and functional style tile bulletin board!

  6. Have you looked on ebay?

  7. IKEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

  8. if you want some thing cute with style then go to wal-mart!

It is sooooooooooo much cheaper than target.

Thats where I got most of my dorm room stuff from...
