  1. A toy stroller can encourage walking.  They have limited physical assistance with  balance as it will tip over if the child leans on it.

It will encourage imaginary play which is good for cognitive skills

It is good for social play skills

    It can stimulate language.

  2. It would mainly help gross motor skills, and hand to eye co-ordination. I am a qualified nurseey nurse by the way, i'm not just randomly guessing! This isn't unique to hildren with any 'special' needs, it would apply to all pre school kids, however different children develop different skills at different times, and the children with such needs may benifit more from strollers and similar appuratus. Was this of any help?

  3. Depends on what the purpose is.  I teach Autisitc Support in Early Intervention.  Our primary purpose is to promote imaginary play and social interaction.  Imaginary play is a key component of preschool curriculum and special needs kids lack this.  By using the stroller you could teach 2-step directions in a play based manner versus an academic manner which is beyond the scope of what a preschooler needs.  By 2-step directions, I mean....go get the baby bottle then feed the baby.  By pushing the baby they engaged in the play scheme and you are addressing other skills.  You could include prepositions, colors, and numbers.  "Go get 2 pink bottles and 1 blue bib then put the bib ON the baby."  Also, the pushing of the stroller can help meet the sensory needs of the child.  Many preschool children with special needs can benefit from "heavy work" or propioceptive input.  This helps to organize their body in space and help them with alertness and attention to task.  Hope that helps!!

  4. depends what the special need is but......

    1) support and help develop gross motor skills (walking)

    2) help and support development of balance

when you say "stroller" do you mean push along toy or a toy pram/pushchair?

    because a pushchair also helps

3)social and emotional development (caring for  another eg dolly in pushchair

    4) spacial awareness (being able to steer it around obstacles and through spaces etc)

    hope this helps
