I am doing a course in child care - Help!!?

The Q is How you set up activities to help children learn the most & effective types of activities in toys, equipment and experience.

Q2 How to lay out furniture and equipment to make the best use of space and help children gain access to play & learning activities.

Q3 The use of everyday routines to support play & learning.

i started doing a course in childcare and i thought help what are you doing nvq 3 if you have a good tutor you will be ok but really its all common sense making sure the furniture is child friendly get a book called childcare and education it really helped me but if there is anything specific you need to know then ask lots of role play and adult interaction really does work

Easy really - all things that are dangerous and valuable, move out of the way, giving them plenty of space to play.  Keep everything easily accessible and clearly labelled.

Everyday routines can incorporate loads of learning - singing songs, counting items when shopping, in the car etc.  Just generally talk about the world around you.

As for equipment, kids love anything from puzzles to an empty box to pots and pans!!

Q1- maybe have a game where you have a store and have them learn math and money. or give them a list of things to buy at the 'store' with pictures and names of the product.  that would be good.

Q2-have different playing stations all over the room. like in one corner have a mini slide and play station. then in another corner have a play kitchen or coloring area. the rest of the room have a few things set up to build socialization or just play. then a few to teach them stuff while playing.

Q3- a schedule? hmm like have a group time first then learn time and then they play off on their own then ... snack/lunch next group play time/craft time then nap or reading time then play time ... during group tie you would play games that help promote learning while socilization at the same time
