  1. First, purchase 2 pieces of 1/4 inch foam board (used in art class it is 2 pieces of paper with a thin foam middle to make the board rigid so it will not bend).

Both boards will have a 4 in x 4 in aluminum or plastic tray glued to the board in the center.  The aluminum tray can be purchased at the hardware store they sell them as grease catchers for gas grills.

Now you will need to find a large plastic container (like a salad bowl).  The container need to clear so people can see the tray that is inside.  The containers will be glued to the board over the tray and thermometer (thermometer info is listed next).  (Make sure you can read the thermometer.

Then get 2 tape thermometers.  They can be found at pet stores as they are used for fish tanks.  Stick these thermometers to the inside of the large bowl so they can be seen from the outside observer easily.  If you stick them to the board you many not be able to read the values when moisture builds up inside the container.

Now one of the large plastic containers will need hole poked or drilled into it, which will allow for heat and vapor to leave.

The other container needs no holes, as it will be the container that traps all the harmful gasses and heat.

You have now made two 3 – D systems.  One for normal health Earth and the other for stressed atmospheric Earth.

The normal Earth allow for equilibrium of gasses and temperature to occur.  As heat penetrates the plastic container (the atmosphere) and heats the board (Earth’s surface) and the water in the tray (oceans, lakes, rivers) giving off gasses (only water vapor in this experiment but on our Earth this is thousands of gasses).  The vapor and heat can leave the atmosphere using the holes that were drilled in the plastic container.

The outside temperature and vapors should be at equilibrium with the inside of the plastic container for all cycles and life to live without stress.  Without stress life especially will reproduce and live at a high level.

The stressed Earth will have vapors build up and temperature will continue to climb causing a change in the equilibrium of the system.  As these systems change so will the cycles of Earth.  Life will also change the way it populates.  In some cases life may stop altogether.  I could go on but you we most interested in a 3-D picture to help you explain the effects of this process.

If you need anything else just contact me.

  2. I can't help you with the 3-D visual, but in your paper don't forget to mention that following Kyoto would cost us 18 Trillion smackers in lost GDP to 2050, and would reduce temperatures by 0.04 to 0.07 degrees Celsius.  Also be sure to mention that over the last 3 years we have reduced carbon emissions by 1.3 % while the E.U. comes in at 2.2 %.  Have a nice day.
