The difference between good drinking and bad drinking is HOW MUCH you drink.

In American Culture, we have this strange notion that if you drink at all, you NEED to drink until you black out.

That is stupid.

If we follow the European views on alcohol, we would teach our children that a glass of wine or a beer or two at dinner is FINE and that they DO NOT NEED TO drink alcohol to excess!

A glass of wine at dinner is GOOD for you... Anyone over the age of 13 should be able to have a glass of wine or beer at dinner, as long as the parents are OK with it.

Intoxicants in and of themselves are NOT EVIL! How we lie to our kids and try to tell them that one drink or one joint will KILL THEM and then expect to suddenly be able to tell fact from fiction and be RESPONSIBLE consumers of Intoxicants when they hit a "Magic" age is what is stupid!

Turning 21 does NOT make you "Responsible" or "Grown Up". I know plenty of people over 21 that act as if they are just shy of being clinically retarded while I also know a couple of under 21's that are more responsible than their parents!

AGE IS JUST A NUMBER.

If you are MATURE enough to handle being able to drink A LITTLE then you should be allowed to but if you continue to lie to kids about the "Dangers" of drinking instead of teaching them to be RESPONSIBLE CONSUMERS then you get what we have right now...

Teeny-boppers drinking themselves to death because no one ever taught them their limits.

ANTI ALCOHOL LAWS DO NOTHING BUT ENCOURAGE KIDS TO EXPERIMENT ON THEIR OWN AND THAT IS NOT SAFE.

We have adults so that they can GUIDE their offspring and teach them what they need to know to survive... WHY on earth do we make such important lessons "Taboo" when ignorance leads to injury and death.

THAT is what is stupid about 21+drinking laws.

Well its not great for the diet but I think in the long run it is better because in countries like France where kids are razed drinking a little their is no mystery so they don't go out binge drinking and turn into alcoholics.
