  1. Dramatic play activities. . . uhhh. . . ummm. . .growing things

Growing from the tiny seed (kids curl up very little) to growing a bit, (kids 'unfurl') and then kids get half straightened up (growing still) and then stand up tall with a flower made of paper ion their button hole, or hand.

Choose music that starts quiet and slow and then it gets faster bit by bit, or just louder to indicate the growth, and finishes with a nice "Klang" or something.

Do a non-mime of sand castles and bring in sand and buckets etc.

Do a mime of building sand castles.

Take kids on a nature walk to collect leaves and flowers.  Press the leaves and flowers.  Two weeks later, unwrap the pressings and stick them to card and identify them with a book.  I always liked that.  The work is a bit delicate for little hands though.

Vocab:  light,  zenith,    growth    ,  seedlings,    stem, leaf petal,     siol,   oxygen,    bucket, spade, shovel.
