  1. Reason not to climb it :

"the number of people who have died from heart attacks as a result of climbing the rock is now quite substantial"

That's what my Doctor told me, when I mentioned it, and he said that I shouldn't.

    Quote from link below:

"there are several deaths a year as a direct result of climbing Uluru, mainly from heart failure"

and from the CLC (a Council of 90 Aboriginal people)

"Day after day and year after year the custodians bear the anxiety and distress caused by people climbing the rock in defiance of Aboriginal law and of the injuries and deaths which continually happen on Uluru"

  2. it sacred to the indigneous people but not only that apparently the uluru headquarters get sent hundreds of rocks from travellers around the world who souveniered a piece of it and have experinced terrible bad luck. so beware

  3. I don't quite get the reasons why Britzo was given the thumbs down .. as IT has been a valid reason for why SOME people shouldn't climb Uluru .......

BUT as others have already pointed out .. IT is a site that is sacred to the indigenous people of the area .. and if you want to be able to climb it  .. permission should be sought from the indigenous people.

  4. What is uluru?

  5. Uluru is very significant to Aboriginal culture in spirituality. According to their stories, it is disrespectful to climb it therefore they request that we do not climb it as doing so is crossing a Dreamtime track and also for safety reasons.

They will feel sadness when they see someone dying whilst climbing.

  6. Go to this site:

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/travel/2005/de...

  7. It is aboriginal land and they have given the public permission to access it, but they would prefer it if wasn't climbed, its disrespectful.

  8. its a sand stone rock. climbing it can cause damage in ts surface it might break up n no longer be the largest rock in d world. itz fragile mate dont even think about it.

  9. ok so as others have said it is a spiritual thing to the aboriginal people. however, there is a ramp that u can hold on to when walking up the rock.....but it is forbidden to climb at a certain temp because you can get heat stroke and die

  10. By not climbing Uluru people will be respecting the wishes of the local Aboriginal peoples.  To them, Uluru is a sacred site, and this should be respected.

  11. Because it is sacred to the Aboriginal people and you should show respect.
