I am driving from Bangalore to Palani then Kodaikanal. pls tell me the shortest routes after Salem?

From salem to Namakkal, - to kangeyam- to Dharapuram-to palani. After namakkal road will not be good upto dharapuram. From palani - kodaikanal ghat section.[ there is another route from  palani ]--  palani to - oddanchatram - to pachalur[ ghat section starts] -- thandikudi -- kodaikanal. If you want good road for smooth and fast driving it is slighly circutous-- salem--namakkal--karar--dindukkal -oddanchatram-- palani. and from palani as said earlier.

I would follow the second route given by sins above via Ganguvarpatti

Actually you can take any of the following two routes. They are equally good:

Salem - Namakkal - Karur -  Dindigul - Oddanchatram - Palani - Kodaikanal

Total Distance: 295 Km

(About 175 Km until Dindigul is NH-7, then NH-29 until Palani and then about 80Km of Ghats until Kodaikanal)

Salem - Namakkal - Karur -  Dindigul - Batlagundu (Vatlakundu) - Ganguvarpatti - Kodaikanal

Total Distance: about 275 Km

(About 40 km of Ghat road starts after Ganguvarpatti)
